There are many things about India that may be unfamiliar or surprising to people from other countries. Some examples include:
Diversity: India is a very diverse country, with over 1.3 billion people speaking over 21 different languages and practicing a variety of religions.
Culture: India has a rich and ancient culture, with a long history of art, literature, and music. Many cultural practices, such as arranged marriages and the concept of joint families, are different from those found in other parts of the world.
Food: Indian cuisine is known for its wide range of flavors and spices, and many dishes, such as curry and biryani, are popular around the world.
Religion: Hinduism is the dominant religion in India, and it is practiced by a majority of the population. India is also home to significant populations of Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, and other religious groups.
Landscape: India is a large and geographically diverse country, with a wide range of landscapes including mountains, deserts, forests, and coastlines.
Population: India is the second most populous country in the world, with over 1.3 billion people. This large population, combined with economic and social challenges, has led to issues such as overcrowding and pollution in some areas.

Many traditional Indian households pray before starting their meals and thank the food.
Being a Marathi, we have been taught to say this before every meal we consume.
Vadani kaval gheta, naav ghya shri hariche
Before taking the first morsel, remember the God.
Sahaj havan hote, naav gheta fukache
Vadani kaval gheta, naav ghya shri hariche
Sahaj havan hote, naav gheta fukache
The food becomes divine, it digests properly when the God is remembered.
Jivan kari jivitva, anna he purnabrahma
This divine food makes the life divine. Here, jivitva refers to the life of primates and animals. Jivan is refered to human life, which has a higher consciousness than any being on this planet.
Jivan kari jivitva, anna the purnabrahma
Hence eating this food will make one's life evolve from jivitva to jivan.
Udar bharan nohe, jaanije yagna karma.
This food is not merely a means to fill the stomach, it is a sacrifice to the fire (acid) inside the stomach. Thus, it becomes a divine ritual where the Agni inside the stomach is respected, and food is consumed as an offering to the same.
This instils gratitude for the meals merely by saying the prayer. The person is aware of the food he's eating and he's thankful to the Almighty for the blessing. A good mindset always ensures optimum digestion and absorption of the food inside the stomach.
The person eating the food is no longer a bhogi. He is a yogi.

A little out of context but here’s a story
When ‘Kellogs’ (the cereal brand) first came to India, they tried to portray kellogs as a breakfast meal but it failed miserably.
Why? Because an Indian mother wouldn’t let her child leave without having 2 Parathas smothered with butter and a glass of milk.
Kellogs knew they won’t be able to beat this trend, so they later came up with an advertisement which promoted Kellogs as an evening snack which kids usually have before going out to play. This helped their sales go up.

1 . Bathing in rivers : I visited Europe last year and every city in Europe I visited (Paris, Zurich, Rome, Venice, Florence, Interlaken) has a beautiful river flowing in the middle of city. There are cafes around them and people ferry and enjoy the scenic views. But I dint see anyone taking bath. We Indians like bathing in rivers and it has its own religious importance that we can bath in Ganga in Gangotri where water is literally 1–2 deg C.
2 .Spicy food : Indian food is incomplete without mix of minimum 4–5 spices of different types. And over and above the main course we have Mirchi ka pakoda, mirchi ki chatni, mirchi ki achaar etc etc. And most surprising item is Pani poori, which is found all over India but in slightly different forms.
3 . Festivals : 365 days and 3650 festivals. If we are given the freedom, we have reasons to celebrate everyday. We have seasonal festivals, we have festivals celebrating god's , we have festivals related to moon and sun, we have festivals around foods, we have festivals for harvesting seasons etc etc. For eg. Diwali and holi will not only surprise foreigners but make them happy to the core.
4 .Speaking English : many foreigners would be surprised to see Indians talking so fluent and fast English. From auto drivers to vegetable vendors, to doctors to common citizens. We speak really better english than people in some countries in Europe. And not even a single board, note, information, advt, will be purely regional language.
5 . Cost of living : A motel in US costs 100$ a night. On a scale of 10 a motel stands less than 3 points in US. And imagine you can actually get a 4* hotel in Bangalore for 100$ a night in posh CBD. Food, tax, medical facility, tourist entry tickets, clothes, bags, foot wear everything is cheaper here. So when a forienger comes here he would be sometimes spending less than his local travel in his own country.

You get to see sex painted and sculptured beautiful with such divine grace on temple walls, yet people shy away to talk about sex education to children and women on reaching puberty are forbidden from visiting temples or treated as garbage on days their periods occur.

It is formed by joining two words, namas and te. 'Namas' means adorations or 'salutation'; and 'te' means 'to you'. Therefore, the literal meaning of Namaste is 'bowing to you'.
People in other parts of world, shake hands or do what their culture teaches like:
Sticking tongue out: Tib
Air kiss:
France, Italy, Portugal, Latin America, The Philippines, Ukraine, and Québec, Canada
Rub faces : New Zealand
Clap your hands: Zimbabwe and Mozambique
Put your hand on your heart: Malaysia
Sniff faces : Greenland and Tuvalu
Bow: Cambodia, Japan, Laos, and Thailand
But,
Namaste is a unique gesture of Indians.
We treat eleders and foreigners as God.
What I like is:
In every part of India it has some other names: In Kannada, the same greeting is Namaskara and Namaskaragalu; in Tamil, Kumpitu; in Telugu, Dandamu, Dandaalu, Namaskaralu and Pranamamu; in Bengali, Nomoshkar and Pronam; in Assamese, Nomoskar and in Odia,Namaskara .

The caste system of India is the most baffling social feature as far as the rest of the world is concerned. Nowhere else on earth one witnesses such a despicable social organisation, I think. Societies are divided into the “haves”and the “have nots”everywhere. However, the incidence of birth in a particular community does not form the basis of one's social ranking as “Superior', “inferior”or the”untouchable “ anywhere in the world except India.

What baffles you most about the society we live in?
What baffles about our society is that everyone has an opinion and they will not give at all. Even if they are proven wrong people refuse to listen to anyone else. It is their way or the highway. There has to be give and take and people refuse to do that today. Its unfortunate, life didn't used to be this hard.
