Hello, the US were going forward into Germany before the bomb was ready,, Russia was coming into Germany from one side America the other and the UK from another, Germany had been carpet bombed and one bombing raid in Dresden resulting in more deaths than the nuclear weapon dropped on japan , the 1st one, so Germany was well beaten and it was just time before the war in Europe was over, but regarding Japan, America put signals or lets say orders out that we will deal with Japan on our own, so from island to island they were getting nearer to Japan, they started carpet bombing, but Japan would not give in and would not surrender. they dropped the 1st one,, asked Japan to surrender and they refused, so the second one was dropped and they surrendered , America were the only troops in Japan no British troops or Russian or French,, America took the country over, with Germany it got split France Britain Russia and America, all got parts of Germany America the most, and even to this day they have a lot of bases in Germany, more or less saying do not start a war again.

If you’re suggesting that the US went easy on Germany, there are some people in Dresden who beg to differ.

I’ll try to make this a simple a possible so even you can understand it. Germany surrendered on 8 May, 1945. The Trinity test, the detonation of the first nuclear device, took place on 16 July,1945. That’s approxmately 2 1/2 months. The weapons were not ready for use on Germany. It’s considered bad form to bomb an enemy once they have surrendered. Now ,that brings us to Japan. They refused to surrender, even though, for all intents and purposes ,they were already defeated. The intended to pursue the war to it’s bitter end. They need not have been nuked,if they had only done what any sane nation would have done in their position.surrender. Do not feel sorry for the Imperial Japanese they sowed the wind ,and reaped the whirlwind. Feel sorry for the Japanese people and put the blame on the Japanese government for their willingness to sacrifice their people.

one reason is the war in Europe ended b4 the first A-bomb was tested or became available for live use.

Germany was already utterly devastated and there was a possibility that Russia would be first to occupy Japan -it was a cynical “real-politic” manoeuvre to scare off Russia

Alex Smith

Because Germany hadn’t attacked America. It was Japan that attacked them.

And because Germany had surrendered several months before the atomic bomb exsted.

The nuke wasn’t ready when the war was over in Europe

Germany had been 10 times more destroyed than Japan, there was nothing left to bomb.

Europe isn’t very big and Germany is just a tiny part of Europe, a nuke would have caused a lot of radiation problems for everybody

All big cities in Germany had been so destroyed, that a nuke wouldn’t have done any more damage, besides long-term radiation damage to the entire continent.

The USA would have bombed Germany with the Atomic Bomb, BUT it was not fully developed until AFTER the Germans surrendered in early 1945. It was originally intended to be used against the Germans but the Japanese were the only enemy left when it was finally operational. The USA was very concerned that the Germans would develop an atomic bomb before we were ready.

Charles Patching

Germany surrendered before the bombs were ready, and secondly the allies were already in Germany before the final surrender. It’s not good to bomb where your own troops are.

Keeno Samz

Germany was seen as the primary agent of the Axs. Once it was conquered, it was felt the other Axs members would fold.

Another consideration was that Allied troops were moving in on Germany, and thus they didn’t want them to be hit.

Another point is that they didn’t want to use the weapons in proxmity to the Soviets. Well, the Western Allies didn’t. It was a secret that only the Americans and British knew of, with intent to use this as a strategic advantage in the post-war world. What Presidents Roosevelt and Truman didn’t know is that Stalin had agents on the Manhattan Project, and he soon held his own nuclear weapons after the war.

Germany surrendered before the atomic weapons were ready. Plus even if not far too many friendly troops were in the theater. And although Germany did declare war against America they never attacked the US on American soil other than some espionage missions. I’m sure if some big historical scholar decides to you’ll get some long drawn out answer but in short that’s it.

Due to the colour of Japanese skin? Remember in 1945 the U.S. law says that if a white person gets up to a public transport a coloured has to give his seat to him!

A coloured person is by law only 4/5 of a white person. Who should use your nukes on between a yellow peril or a white race in your neighbourhood? Well the yellow peril obviously!

The rest of the reasons are lies and denial. The U.S. is made up of the majority of racist white Caucasian Anglo Saxon people who up till today, thinks they owned the world. What about 1945?

Look at Nepalm and Agent Orange chemical weapons? Who do the U.S. used on? Another yellow peril Vietnam! Coincidence? Could have fooled me!

because when the atomic bomb was ready developed the USA was already inside Germany. They would nuke themselves if they would have done it. Or Ally member. Even when they not liked USSR, if they would have bombed for example a now USSR protected city in Germany, this would lead to further worldwar. Never ending I guess. The first 2 years USA would take the lead, but then USSR had stolen the plans for the bomb and make their own. Atomic bombing all the time in all parts of the world would happen.

For the thousandth time, Germany surrendered in early May of 1945, well before the first two nuclear devices were operational. The Trinity test didn’t confirm an atomic device would even work until mid-July 1945.

So clearly, the decision to use nuclear weapons was neither ethnically nor racially based — it was purely due to a developmental timeline.

Jason Taylor

Germany surrendered before the bomb was ready. If someone tells you there was some racist reason ask them why people willing to make the Hamburg Firestorm would refrain from nuclear bombardment out of ethnic nepotism.

Nazi Germans, while not Anglo Saxons, were part of the Indo-European family. In other words, they are whites, too.

Imperial Japanese, in their hearts, were just a bunch of inferior monkeys who had the audacity to bomb our city. They deserved to be nuked.

I’m glad the Americans did the right thing. There were no innocent victims in Japan during that time. Last I read a report that as many as 92% of Japanese funded their war machine to kill other innocent lives in Asia.

Again, Japan deserved to be nuked as a peaceful resort to ending WW2.

Charles Fletcher

The original plan was to use the bomb on Germany.

Germany surrendered in May 1945.

The atomic bomb was not tested until July 1945 and was not ready for operational use until August 1945.

Now, this question was asked and answered numerous times on Quora and the information is readily available to anyone bothering to look.

So, why was this question asked?

Because by the time the US had constructed the first nuke, Germany had already surrendered unconditionally.

It is considered bad form to nuke a country that has already surrendered.

Peter Sobol

The nuclear bombs were not ready until July of 1945, it would have been very impolite to nuke a country that had already surrendered.

Chas Alston

Because nuking a country that had already unconditionally surrendered would be useless and a rather stupid waste of a nukes.
