Tesla CEO Elon Musk has expressed shock over world powers continuing to keep India out of the United Nations Security Council, calling it “absurd”. “At some point, there needs to be a revision of the UN bodies. Problem is that those with excess power don’t want to give it up. India not having a permanent seat on the Security Council, despite being the most populous country on Earth, is absurd,” Musk said on X, formerly Twitter – the social media company that he owns.

This issue has been raised many times, thank you Elon. It is unreal that a country of 1.4 billion people is not represented in the UNSC. especially in the current scenario,  I think it is a dangerous omission.

How about UNSC is reformed like this: One collective member of the African Union, One collective member of the Arab nations, two collective members of Asia (reason: because of huge population in Asia around 60% of the world), one from North America, one from south america, and two from Europe (reason: because of higher number of economic regions), and Russia.

Reforms at the UN are long overdue. Seats at the UN security council should not even be a matter of a nation's size as Elon posits. Any parameter you use to decide seats would instantly create a bias against nations that do not have that characteristics. To level the playing field, all sovereign nations recognized by the UN should automatically hold a seat at the SC.

 This should be a foregone conclusion.

In fact the UNSC should be dissolved and the powers deferred to the general Assembly!
