The speed is breathtaking. Since 2020, China's imports have increased FIVE TIMES, from just about 1 million vehicles sold, to over 5 million. What's more, the quality of their vehicles have dramatically improved, with reported problems being cut by over 2/3 since 2008, and by more than half since 2012. They are now at parity with the quality of models sold in the US, across all global brands.

Second, surging input and labor costs in North American factories -- which include also German and Japanese models -- mean that these brands will be unable to reduce sticker prices to compete with Chinese carmakers.

Well said sir I totally agree with you. China set up a plan a few years ago that they want to move up to the supply chain from sweatshops to higher value added, high tech industries. Now they are leading 37 out 40 high tech areas according to an Australia think tank.

They are able to produce high tech products with lower cost than anybody else globally. Good for them and we need to catch up technologically not by sanctions. Let’s all work hard cheers

USA must be mad to imagine it could stop china progress. Just by population size alone, china has many more geniuses, scientists, researchers, engineers etc, invest more in R&D, has better government support, bigger market and a culture of diligence/discipline entirely lacking in the USA. Looking back in the year of 2015 China had this state policy of "Made in China 2025", later they didnt mention it much after Trump started the trade war, but doesn't mean they stopped the plan. 10 years after it seems they are close to the goal they set back then.
