What's awesome about being Chinese? I'm a Pakistani girl and I love knowing about Chinese people.

Lots of Chinese people regard Pakistani as true friends. Here I give some my own ideas.

Awesome part of being a Chinese:

1. Witness his/her country develo in an amazing speed. If you leave your hometown for a year, and you will certainly find new buildings and infrastructure in the city.

2. Delicious food. We Chinese are proud of our food. Chinese cuisine is quite different in different region, but almost of them are GOOD! I do love all these food even though some may look bizarre for you.

3. So easy to find people from the same country, no matter which country you live in.

4. Be proud of our culture, history.

This is difficult to answer since many of us grew up bring bullied and were brought to other parts of the world without resources unlike today new generation with so much prosperity that happened with last 30 years of unprecedented economic miracle of that ever exsted since the founding of humankind. When I was a kid, I used to be made fun of by the native Indonesians stating how poor China ( was) and how ugly and stupid Chinese people are. They said my ancestors lived in huts and were uncivilized. I was so ashamed being born a Chinese back then. Then my parents had me watched a lot of Chinese TV series, especially the historical dramas. There I learned my ancestors were not uncivilized. The ancestors were very civilized. In fact Han civilization rivaled that of Roman and Egypt. The ancestors invented gunpowder, silk among other things. They built palaces and Great Wall hundreds and hundreds of years ago and some are still standing today. Their writings still in use today, albeit with some adjustments

Feel like I want to answer this question. I was born in a Chinese family in which half of my family, my mother side, is very anti China. I think the whole that side of the family hated the Chinese with vengeance (I know the government and the country are different but I was too young to tell the difference). Everything Chinese did was wrong and hated. Everything American said was true and right (we could listen to Voice of America then). I don't blame them because my grandfather worked hard to made it and the stripped everything from him. He decided to stay rather than ran away to HK like many rich Shanghainese did. My mother and her siblings went to the best boarding school in Shanghai and took care of by nannies. All of those gone a few years into new China.

我想回答一下这个问题。我出生在一个中国家庭，我母亲这边的家人都非常反华，他们对政府恨之入骨（我知道政府和国家不是一回事，但我当时太年轻了，说不清有什么不同）。

Anyway, I was fed the anti government emotion constantly. It was exhausting to feel shamed and even scared by just being a Chinese. After I grew up and moved to Canada. It took me a long time to unlearn the teaching. I bite my tongue just to refrain from justifying myself after telling others I was from China. You know why some Chinese new immigrants (not all, some) don't want to mingle with locals? Because they instinctively feel the locals look down on them. Maybe it is true, maybe it is just in their head, but the fear is real.

我从小被不断灌输一些言论。因为自己是中国人而感到羞耻甚至害怕，我受够了。长大后我去到了加拿大。我花了很长时间才忘掉这些言论。在介绍自己来自中国后，我会咬紧牙关，不为自己多做解释。你知道为什么有些中国来的新移民（不是全部人都这样，只有一部分）不愿意跟当地人来往吗？是因为他们本能地觉得当地人会瞧不起他们。也许这是事实，也许这只是他们自己的想法，但他们内心的恐惧担忧是真实存在的。

After a few years I started to build my confidence about my origin. Luckily I did not turn into nationalist like many others did after spent some time overseas. It is also not because China is so much better than before and still better every year, but because I don't have to bind my self esteem with my origin.

Now back to China pride. After I lived in 3 countries outside of China, I went back to work. The moments I am very proud are when I see genuinely caring Chinese who passionately want to do a better job everyday or simply being nice to others. I once rented a small self storage place and moved my fridge, TVs and sofa in there. It was snowing, and one piece of sofa was soiled during moving. The girl who works in the self storage office saw and ran to grab wet tissue and clean the sofa for me, even though it is not part of her job at all. She is just being nice. There are many Chinese workers are like her, warmhearted, helpful, want to do a good job, and willing to learn. My driver, my maid, my realtor, the tea lady in the office, a security guard in the bank. Many of them who did little nice things for me, never asking for anything in return. The workers and employees, they are willing to go extra mile to do a better job everyday, they sincerely want to learn and become better. Those are the moments when I feel really really really proud that I was a Chinese myself.

现在说回中国自豪感。在3个海外国家生活过后，我回中国工作了。我感到非常自豪的时刻是，我看到了真诚体贴的中国人，他们每天都热情地做好自己的工作，对别人友善相待。

我曾经租过一个小小的自助储藏间，把我的冰箱、电视和沙发都搬了进去。那天下雪了，搬家时有一张沙发弄脏了。

在自助仓库办公室工作的女孩看到后，拿湿纸巾跑过来帮我把沙发擦干净，尽管这根本不是她的分内工作。她就是那么友善。很多中国人都和她一样，古道热肠、乐于助人、工作负责、愿意学习。

我的司机，我的保姆，我的房地中介，茶水女工，银行保安等等，他们中有很多人都曾不计回报地帮过我。

工人和员工愿意加倍努力，把工作做得更好，他们真心追求上进，精益求精。

Seeing the answers on here I feel a little weird and like my own answer is very… narcissistic?

While it may be more of an Asians in general thing, I am so proud of my Chinese genes when it come to looking youthful. Honestly, I’m 20 and still look like 15 and my sister is 34 with a kid and she honestly looks like she’s still in her early 20s. My mum has crossed the 50 years old mark and still looks almost exactly the same as when she was 35. (I can’t include my dad necessarily, he got some bad genes where he started growing white hair at his mid-30s, sorry daddy.)

虽然我整体更像亚洲人，但每次人们说我看起来很年轻时，我都为自己的中国基因感到自豪。说实话，我已经20岁了，但看起来还和15岁似的，我姐姐都34岁了，有个孩子，但说真的她看起来也就只有20岁出头。我妈妈都50多岁了，但看起来和35岁时几乎一模一样。(我爸爸就没这么幸运了，他遗传了一些不好的基因，35岁左右就开始长白发了，真遗憾，爸爸。)
