NEW DELHI: Setting the ball in motion to elect the 18th Lok Sabha and four state assemblies, Election Commission on Saturday announced seven-phase polls that will stretch for one-and-a-half-months, between April 19 and June 1, followed by counting for all seats on June 4. These will be the longest general elections since the polls of 1951-52 that lasted more than four months.

2024 elections are a watershed mark in Indian Democracy.If EVMs counting of votes transparency not ensured,the elections would go the same way as in 2019 where EVM manipulation was perfected & the VVPAT verification did not see the light of the day.

Congress party has lost its charisma and appeal because of poor leadership which lacks mass appeal and does not resonate with the public. Unfortunately, the Congress party leaders are perceived either as elitists or Gandhi family stooges. This is hurting them big time. If they get out of the Gandhi family syndrome and rally behind a mass leader other than Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi , the party will come back to power in 2034 for sure.

West Bengal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh will have seven phase elections this time, In some states in five phases. Obviously to give time to Modi, elections are spread in many phases. If security is the issue, the government has enough para-military forces. So the seven phase election is not proper.
