I am not embarrassed by the acts of some stupid Bharatian youth.

I can understand if uneducated youth take this route. They have everything to gain and nothing to lose. But why should educated youth do this?

Do they realise that they can not ext USA if they enter illegally?

In the last 10 years 2 new colleges have opened every day in India. That means 700 institutions a year. 7000 in 10 years. At least 7 lakh college grads a year.

An oft repeated refrain that we get to hear is “College Education doesn't teach you to add any value or enable you to do a job” . That is true. But does it stop employers from hiring fresh grads? No. It doesn't. Employers know these kids need to be trained. And college educated kids have better ability to take the challenges of a job than an uneducated one.

Well, we seem to be doing everything right.

The answer is “The other side of the fence always looks greener”.

To be honest , employment in the government sector has dried up. Recruitment is strictly for replacement of retirees.

These 7 lakh college grads can't be accommodated.

On top of that , we have reservation in government sector jobs. That is good news to the underprivileged sections of our society but a big depressant for the privileged class.

I guess now you can get a whiff of the reason why they are jum the fence.

Government jobs has this security of permanent jobs and a growth plan. That is not available in private sector. It is high time the youth start valuing the opportunities they get and stop running after distant dreams in greener pastures across the fence.

I am not feeling embarrassed because I know the state of immigrants from other countries to USA. There are doctors, managers and lawyers waiting at fast food joints, driving Uber and stacking shelves in USA. The difference is that they immigrated legally.

If Americans really don’t like us… If they really are that xenophobic, then sure by all means! It’s their country after all. What’s stop them?

As far as we Indians are concerned, there are other countries that will welcome us - Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Switzerland, Singapore, Hong Kong, Ireland, Germany, etc. Even China is looking to attract our skilled workers. The US is not the end-all and be-all of this world.

I'm a first-generation American but I have a solid credential to answer this question as I was born and brought up in India and lived there for nearly half my life.

I read this article with a lot of cynicism as I'm in tune with the current affairs in India and have visited my home a few times since the BJP came back to power in 2014. Unlike other countries in the neighborhood, India does not suffer from the largescale violence and terrorism issues, even if there might be economic issues plaguing a significant part of the population. India is by and large a stable country and is a reasonably equitable society considering its immense diversity. I say 'reasonable' because there's still ways to go to address issues of social inequality.

As I read through the article, I was expecting to see maybe some refugees from Kashmir or the Northeast as these are the main regions affected by separatism and violence. To my surprise, not one individual was mentioned to be from these parts. Instead, most of the claims seemed made-up and opportunistic. It just made me really angry because these selfish and opportunistic individuals are misusing the concept of asylum with cooked up stories, when genuine refugees need to be seen by the authorities urgently. Furthermore, they are being a nuisance and creating fake narratives about their country which only hurts other Indians and causes repercussions elsewhere.
