Actually the American's  engineering standards and projects, particularly in  the Civil and Structural (C&S) field, used to be top of the class in the world in the past.

But this standard had deteriorated over the recent 30+ years due to poor government and management and the complacency of the American's people.

The Chinese people had learn fast (some from the American universities), work hard and had surpass the Americans in this C&S field.

However the Chinese are now also getting complacent and may also deteriorates in the future decades if they are not conscious of this pitfall.

Did he talk about the climate adverse effects of the projects like 3 Gorges Dam that is now raving havoc on chinese popilarion the zhu hai to hong kong highway is used less than 10% of projected  due to extreme expenses of toll gate fees.

I am an engineer and the quality of their work is atrocious… why is the bridge sagging? Why do buildings tip over or the 3 dam is failing … BTW the Chinese do not have OSHA, regulations, or codes like the USA or Europe

A lot of this construction is junk. Some of it is made with poor materials because the contractors were crooked. Some are flawed dedigns. Some show poor workmanship.  The Three Gorges Dam suffers all three. Bridges and buildings collapse. Brand new expenses begin falling apart within a few years. I didnt make up the term tofu dregs, the Chinese did that themselves.

很多建筑都是垃圾。有些是用劣质材料建造的，承包商偷工减料。有些是设计缺陷的，有些做工很差，这些问题三峡大坝都存在。
