Listen: Luxury varies by time
in 1950 to 70s: A radio box ( radio costed rs 230, but most of the Indians could not earn Rs 200 a month)
in 1970: a Black and white TV ( my salary was Rs 600 to start with and it increased to Rs2000 by promotion) When I bought a TV ( black/ white) in 1975, I was a big man in my colony in Bombay.
in 1980s: a color Tv/ Air condition; The first ac unit was bought my wife in Mumbai after I started eaning in Kuwait, at my age of 56.
Till 2000: a telephone ( not mobile) at home was deemed as luxury. Till 2000, even a fridge was considered as dream/ Luxury. Know that I walked 2 km to a shop to make a phone call!

In my sense there are different versions of luxury for every generation in India, I was born in 1987 in a middle class family with 2 siblings, for us following were the luxuries but as the time changed our priorities too,so the luxuries…
1.Getting whole choclate without sharing with siblings was big deal.
2.Celebrating birthday having bunch of friends, getting a one inch cake peice was luxury, if luckily one extra samosa in paper plate, double luxury -:)

6.Booking a special (paying extra fares) autorikshaw for going out to attend some functions.

Luxury is Happiness everyone describes in their own way .
Luxury is happiness on your mother’s face when you call her daily and concerned about her .
Luxury is happiness on your wife’s face when she comes back home after 9–5 job to see that all the utensils she left in the sink are washed . and arranged in a beautiful manner . ( I do it when i have night shift )
Luxury is happiness on your wife’s face when she is tired of 6 days a week job and not willing to wash clothes on Sunday (only Holiday ) but reaches home and see all the cloths hanging in balcony nicely washed . I do it and i am not ashamed of.
Luxury is happiness on your sister’s face when you meet her and nephew after a month.

In Indian serials there is only one thing in common i.e the rich people. To indians luxury means having a huge mansion, have a dozen of servents, roaming in huge cars with drivers, showing off. And the worst is that they expect everyone to respect them wherever they go so that they feel like they are god's.

Well,I am currently pursuing my bachelor's in IIT DHANBAD,So obviously i live in hostel (and also have to eat that boring mess food).
Also, this is the first time that am living about 1500 KM away from my family in a city totally unknown to me.
Now coming to the question-
For me the most luxury thing is this-
To live with my family (small but sweet)
For an Indian nothing is more important than family.
If they have the support of family they can achieve anything in life.
Krishna.
why only in india. luxury definition doesn't change in any part of the world.
And to precise ,
luxury is something which makes other feel uncomfortable about their income and status.
normally just to show off.
rather then being comfortable.

We reading answers on such forum and being able to have access to internet are apparently well luxurious.
A fortune’s listed billionaire wishing for a peaceful, worry-less night and a ravenous beggar for a royal feast are both luxuries indeed.
