CNS Fujian, China's third aircraft carrier, finished its maiden sea trial and returned to a shipyard in Shanghai on Wednesday afternoon, the People's Liberation Army Navy said in a brief news release.

It said that during the eight-day sea trial, engineers and Navy sailors tested the carrier's propulsion and electric power systems and achieved their goals.

The Fujian is now berthed at China State Shipbuilding Corp's Jiangnan Shipyard.

Hardware and software tests will now take place on the carrier in accordance with its construction plan, the Navy said.

It said the Fujian had successfully completed mooring tests and the equipment installation process before its first sea trial.

中国人民解放军海军在一份简短的新闻稿中表示，中国第三艘航空母舰“福建号”完成了首次海试，并于周三下午返回上海的一家造船厂。

报道称，在为期八天的海试中，工程师和海军水兵测试了航母的推进和电力系统，并实现了既定目标。

so i think the best practical counter to fujian is building a massive base in Nicobar. this base should have a full light armored division with troop transport ships, an air defense umbrella, AWACS aircraft, a full fighter squadron or two (su30 or mig 29) equipped with bramhos, KH-35, rampage, rudram, and also land-based missile systems like STAR and AGNI. we already have an unsinkable aircraft carrier and assault ship(Nicobar islands) we have to utilize them.

Given the current situation India should collaborate with france to buy their nuclear propulsion flat top carrier which is fairly decent design which is also equiped with catobar config and its a decent displacement design which India can manage with given senario I also feels it will enable us to launch early warning aircrafts from the carrier.

I'm not a defense expert, but as a common Indian, I feel our Navy needs at least 10 SSN subs, 1 nuclear powered 70-75 thousand ton CATOBAR AC and 100% Indian made hypersonic missiles. Also we need to build our own jet engines that can be used in heavy weight fighters. All these will need time & most importantly funding. So I hope gov spends more on defense R&D.
