NEW DELHI: Freddy Svane, Denmark’s ambassador to India, on Wednesday posted a video on social media, showing trash dumped in a service lane outside the embassy.

“Lovely, green New Delhi. Many words but no action. Saddened by this,” the diplomat wrote on X, tagging the official handles of the Danish embassy, ‘Denmark in India’, Delhi chief minister’s office and the LG office.

Svane said garbage had been thrown in the common service lane between the embassies of Denmark and Greece.

"This used to be a service lane, but you see, it is just fullof trash. No more nice words, just actions, my friend," hesaid, ending the video with "dhanyawaad (thank you)".

Responding to the video, residents urged the authorities toaddress waste management issues effectively.

斯文说，有人在丹麦和希腊大使馆之间的公共服务通道倾倒垃圾。

It won't be. This debris is due to public work (digging up footpath for laying wires/pipes). It was a one off work and debris wasn't cleaned afterwards.

Yeah this projects a bad image overall. Not only around the embassies we should really start kee all the major cities clean and presentable. That would be a good start, a similar model can then be enforced in the whole of India

Btw.. this area, Lutyens Delhi, one of the most important, highly developed and expensive area of India, is part of smart city mission.
