India's Chabahar port pact to counter Pakistan, China:India has signed an agreement with Iran for the management of Chabahar Port for the next decade. This move, taking place amidst a busy election season, is seen as a significant geopolitical outreach to Iran with major regional implications

Ship minister Sarbananda Sonowal is in Iran for the signing ceremony.

This marks the first instance of India taking over the management of an overseas port.

印度恰巴哈尔港协议：印度与伊朗签署了一项协议，将接手未来十年恰巴哈尔港的管理。此项协议签订于繁忙的选举季节，是印度对伊朗极其重要的地缘政治延伸，将对该地区产生重大影响。

伊朗航运部长索诺瓦尔正在伊朗参加签署仪式。

The new long-term agreement aims to replace the original contract. The new agreement will have a validity of 10years and will be automatically extended. The original pact only covers operations at the Shahid Beheshti terminal of Chabahar Port and is renewed annually.

这份新的长期协议目的在于取代原协议。新协议的有效期为10年，到期将自动延长。原协议仅覆盖恰巴哈尔港沙希德·贝赫什码头的业务，每年续签。

First, it is for 10 years and extendable. It is not about which party governs India or Iran after 10 years. Policies are always continuous irrespective of which party is in power and if there is a dispute or disagreement, the contract will have a clause/ mechanism to settle those.
