PM Modi pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat ahead of swearing-in ceremony

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat on Sunday morning. This visit marked the begng of the day on which Modi is scheduled to be sworn in as the Prime Minister for his third consecutive term.

Modi also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as he reached Delhi's Sadaiv Atal ahead of his oath-taking ceremony as PM.

新德里：周日上午，候任总理纳伦德拉·莫迪在圣雄甘地墓向圣雄甘地致敬，标志着莫迪即将宣誓就任第3个总理任期。

在就任总理之前，莫迪还到访了位于德里的前总理瓦杰帕伊纪念公园，向瓦杰帕依致敬。

Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the founding member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), served as the first prime minister from the party. Together with Lal Krishna Advani, Vajpayee played a pivotal role in establishing the BJP as a significant force in Indian politics.

Supporters were present in sizeable numbers as the prime minister-designate visited these monuments. Modi also offered his respects at the National War Memorial, a monument to soldiers who have made the supreme sacrifice for the country.

印度人民党的创始成员阿塔尔·比哈里·瓦杰帕伊是人民党的第一位总理。瓦杰帕伊与拉尔·克里希纳·阿德瓦尼一起，在帮助印度人民党成为印度政治重要力量的过程中发挥了关键作用。
