I have decided to raise my kids in China and not the USA for many reasons. Although I wish my home country were a better fit, it’s just not at this time.

From my experiences, China is now a consumer paradise. Living in America, the middle class lifestyle is dying a slow death, especially with rising cost of living, rent increases, buying a house feels like extortion. Also: traveling, you can't go anywhere without a car, and you need car insurance if you want a car. Problems with your car? use your last paycheck to fix it. America stopped investing in the middle class a long time ago, the rich communities are closing itself off, leaving everyone else to fend for themselves.

I am raising my kids in Shenzhen. We are Chinese. I travelled to almost all western countries and have done business with more than 50 countries' customers, I can say China is best place to raise the kids. And not only kids raising, in this more and more dangerous world, China is the last safe place to live.

I lived in the U.S., graduated, and worked there for five years before choosing to move back to Vietnam. Everyone asks me "Why not stay? Why reject the American dream?" Man they haven't lived there and witnessed the daily jokes about my race, the declining infrastructure, and the gun alerts in my neighborhood. I am a language teacher now and life is vibrant, safe, and I am not treated like a third class citizen. China is a wonderful country and a safer place unlike what is portrayed on mainstream media.

As a Chinese who's gonna go to the US to study,what you've mentioned is exactly what I concern about now.But a foreigner's kid in Beiing does have tons of privileges compared to the locals,the difficulty is just way more lower as a foreigner in such a special place.

Agree with you. I’m Thai who went to study in Oklahoma in the ‘90s. I can say that racism in the ‘90s was much less than present. And yes I had experience racism on the daily basis then but I was never attacked. You can imagine being Asian in the rednecked country, but I was only verbally abused. I’m now back in Thailand. When looking at the U.S., I feel blessed that I am back home now. And only when you’re outside, you can see how the western media has spread all the lies about China. Oh! one more thing that deters me to visit the U.S. again is their tip culture.

I think foods in China are generally a lot more affordable compared to the States, and going to restaurants is also a lot cheaper, especially when you consider the fact that in China you never need to pay tips. Transportation is definitely cheaper, both in terms of public transportation and private transportation. Currently, there are quite a few cars you can buy in China that are below $10,000USD. However, real estate in China is very expensive, especially in Beiing. I think in most of the central areas, buying a condo will usually set you back around 2 million to 3 million USD, depends on the size of the condo. Many Chinese are living paycheck to paycheck because the pressure from paying back mortgages is immense. Keep in mind that China also does not have 30 year fixed rate mortgages, which is something unique to the US.
