An island in Andaman and Nicobar could enhance India’s strategic deterrence against China. New Delhi has plans to develop “The Great Nicobar” into a ship and tourist hub. Due to its strategic location, it could also be used to keep China in check on the high seas. But the plan is being opposed by India’s opposition party – the Congress. It claims the planned infrastructure upgrades at the Great Nicobar poses a “grave threat” to the Island’s indigenous communities and ecosystem.

1. Actually it's just using 2% of the area, 2. The Great Nicobar would become the Hong Kong or Singapore of India, because of the port's strategic position near the dense global ship route, and so it will benefit the tribes who have already given permission, because they are the one who own the lands as per the law, so 100% they will benefit, 3.Currently India has no such port that's on the global ship route that's why we use Colombo Port which is on the global ship route, that's why small ships go to Colombo, and take our shipments, and then reaches India (and suprise-suprise, who owns Colombo Port )
