Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is visiting India for a two-day state visit, weeks after prime minister Narendra Modi took charge for a third term. Hasina has chosen to visit New Delhi before her scheduled visit to Beiing next month. The visit comes amid concerns that China is making significant inroads in India's neighbourhood. Palki Sharma tells you more.

Being Bangladeshi, I can say that we are proud to share the same ethnicity with India, and we consider them our family. As long as our family (India) doesn't discriminate against us as Pakistan did, there will be prosperity in the Indian subcontinent. Moreover, Bangladesh could be a crucial bridge for India to establish a good friendship with China. Pakistan needs to move away from extremist Islamic mentalities for the sake of pure economic growth in the subcontinent. Currently, India is a liberal country that wants to thrive as a community. As a result, we have no problem recognizing India as family. India must ally with China. When that happens, Pakistan will naturally follow the right track.

That said  Bangladesh can easily solve this by creating water reservoirs to store water. Its a no brainer, solution than to be asking to change a fair water division.

Teesta issue was forever between West Bengal and Bangladesh. The issue is during monsoon WB side open the dam and water flows the banks and during draught they stop water that drains the basin. TMC government needs to be on board for that.

Bangladesh is very confused with China policy. Despite getting faulty defence equipment from China they gave their Teesta river restoration deal to ChinaMost of their defence and technological deals are signed with China not India. We Indians are in a big misunderstanding that Bangladesh chose India over China. It's not true. If we're a friend of Bangladesh, China is like their big brother.

The problem of India is it sees Bangladesh as a problem instead of opportunity. Had India opened up to Bangladesh as they did famously in 1971, the relationship between not only the two government, but people on two sides would have been much warmer. India needs to stop killing Bangladeshis on the border, execute fair water sharing agreement, and reduce the trade deficit. If Bangladesh succeeds, India will greatly benefit with a stable cooperative neighbor whose success could be used as an example to replicate in India on larger scale.

印度的问题是，把孟加拉国视为一个问题，而不是机会。如果印度像1971年那样对孟加拉国开放，那么不仅两国政府之间的关系，两国人民之间的关系也会缓和得多。

印度应该停止杀害边境上的孟加拉国人，执行公平的水资源共享协议，减少贸易逆差。

如果孟加拉国取得成功，印度将大大受益于一个稳定的合作邻国，其成功可以作为一个榜样，在印度更大规模地复制。
