The US is starting to adopt a mindset that other countries must step back for the US to succeed. The US wants to seal itself off from the global economy and produce everything within its borders. That is fine but the prices Americans will pay are less selection of goods at higher costs. Living outside the US for years gives Americans a broader view of the World. If the US continues to insist on trade agreements that only benefit the US, other countries will slowly isolate the US and develop trade agreements without the US.

I'm glad there's alternatives than only "the West" (I don't like the term because then we Europeans get clumped together with the US), not because I agree with the politics of China or Russia.

I think it's a good thing, so that non-aligned nations have the opportunity to benefit from both Blocs, instead of having to defend itself against the incroachment of either the Chinese or American Bloc.

Many of these non-aligned nations deserve the economic expansion that this could bring and bring prosperity to the broader Global South.
