It doesn't make any sense for the US to throw away some of it's only competitive industries in the country. In situation like this, the logical decision would be to consolidate the leverages you had on them by making sure they continuously rely on your products. But they have to make this an exstential threat to the Chinese, so that at this point they had no choice but to develop their own technologies. And at the 21 century, no technologies are uncrackable as long as you have men and money, now they have both. It really makes you wonder, who is actually making the decisions in the US, a monkey in tuxedo?
