While I acknowledge the potential benefits of introducing advanced electric vehicles, I am worried that this move might further reinforce Pakistan’s position as a trading economy rather than a producing one.

The reliance on imported products, particularly high-cost items like BYD cars from China, poses several risks. The purchase of these vehicles will require a significant outflow of dollars, which could put additional pressure on our already fragile currency and lead to further depreciation of the Pakistani rupee.

I believe that a stronger emphasis on building our own technological and industrial base is crucial for sustainable economic development. By fostering innovation and supporting local production, we can create a more resilient economy that benefits all Pakistanis.
