Chinese robot manufacturers are expressing optimism for China’s humanoid robot market at the World Robot Conference in Beiing on August 21, 2024. Humanoid robots in China are mostly used for industrial purposes. But many firms have confirmed plans to advance into non-industrial markets, such as hospitality and medicine. The conference has attracted 169 companies to showcase over 600 products.

What would you do if you grew super intelligent, only to realized that a group of monkeys were holding the on off button of your very own exstence? @user-lh3xx7rx7z i don't see how ai will see it that way. even if they seem intelligent that's because of the program humans wrote. i don't think they will gain self awareness, they are just machines. at least for now we don't need to worry

Boston dynamics was funded by the US military in the early days, so it’s tech is probably off limits in China. Would be cool to see every countries best side by side

Boston dynamics is overpriced though while unitree is 90% less costs and able to mass produce. Also boston dynamics innovation is slow, almost nothing new in a couple years. They just demonstrated a weird standing atlas v2 and even that seems bulky.

Well no, most countries are facing a population decline while life expectancy is increasing, meaning fewer young people to take care of more elderly. Much of that is grunt work that nobody wants to do and even dangerous for the caregiver, like lifting people and cleaning their butts, including for patients that are uncooperative, obese or have other issues. Most developed countries and China as well already have a huge shortage of nurses willing to do such work, and with population aging, the need will go up while offer will go down, so it's a race against time to make up for the need with technology.
