The best option to minimise the chance that an asteroid someday smashes into the Earth – possibly wi out life – is through the use of nuclear weapons, according to scientists at China’s deep space exploration programme.

We do not have powerful enough nuclear weapons yet to divert a large rogue asteroid with a direct potential strike against the Earth due to mass and gravity...
