In a bid to enhance the global competitiveness of its shipbuilding sector, China's two largest state-owned shipyards are merging to create the world's biggest ship manufacturer as part of the country's ongoing efforts to reform and strengthen its state-owned enterprises (SOEs).

China's shipbuilding industry giants China State Shipbuilding Corporation and China Shipbuilding Industry Company have announced plans to merge, creating a maritime manufacturing behemoth with annual sales top 17 billion U.S. dollars.
According to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the country's global market share has surged from 26 percent in 2015 to over 50 percent in the first half of this year.
中国造船业巨头中国船舶工业集团公司和中国重工集团公司宣布了合并计划,组成了一个年销售额超过170亿美元的海运造船业巨头。

依据公告,中国船舶的换股价格确定为37.84元/股。中国重工的换股价格确定为5.05元/股,由此计算的中国重工与中国船舶的换股比例为1:0.1335。
值得一提是,本次合并为A股上市公司有史以来规模最大的吸收合并交易。本次换股吸收合并中,中国船舶拟购买资产的交易金额,为换股吸收合并中国重工的成交金额,根据“交易金额=中国重工换股价格×中国重工总股本”,交易金额为1151.5亿元。

I know it is time for Chinese Shipbuilding to dominate in the industry and be on top of the shipbuilding industry. China should possess and exhibit better quality of ships and can build faster and more number as compared to the koreans and japanese. China can do it and China will win !!!

Big is not necessarily beautiful. Merger cannot make companies stronger and it has few chances of being successful. For the past few decades, big companies have been mired down in a sea of trouble due to its bureaucratic governance and management.

Ship Building is BOTH Commercial and Military . Diversity of Commercial Ships are VAST and Diverse. Thus the "Stream Lining" of R & D becomes important. Ie .. Molten Salt Modular Reactors for BIG tankers , Ice Breakers and Container Ships. Then .... Gas and Oil base engines with Combined / Separate Fuel engines. It get COMPLEX with PLANNING and Co- ordination with regards to different type of Ships . Luxury Passenger Ship is also Growing significantly , one which CHINA wants to Built due to ITS OWN population and Demand. IMO ... Combining the two BIGGEST ship Builders in China as a NATURAL progression.
