I feel India should balance between USA and China.

I think it is in interest of China too that they need to resolve border disputes if they wish India to not go too deep in relationship with US.

I feel release of pressure by China on border will allow us to rationally negotiate with USA without giving any national security threat for China.

Till China change its stance to counter US we need some big steps in direction of BRICS currency and global south.

It’s in our best interests to be a friend of USA. They can help us progress rapidly. However, we should not trust USA. They have tried all they can to destabilize India & continue to do as at this very moment as we speak. When they realized Modi will not lose elections no matter what they do, they decided to get focus more on business & trade.

most of us should agree that India's interest lies with general strategic alignment with US. If India does not get technology and investment from the west, how can it dream to be a developed nation? The path is very clear. Some hiccups will be there, those need to be ironed out through strategic communication.  However, that does not mean that India should completely align itself with any superpower, kee aside its own unique geo-political strategic interest.   However, it is a fact that US follows one red line that no country should  challenge its  global hegemony.

Swasti has really put together an excellent point of view on this subject. There is much trepidation and resistance to India's ties with the US particularly in the older generation of Cold Warriors. This does not take into account the recent strengthening of relationship between Russia and China, where they are now aligned in defense. This also does not consider the transformation of US India relationship where India has much to gain and has bipartisan support.

From the point of view of a Chinese with Indian's interests in mind, I think India should develop further relationship with the US but before you do so pls make sure you have national security law in place and beware of their NGO.   Furthermore, it is not just whether or not India can trust the US but also whether the US can trust India.  The US won't trust any nation unless that nation allows US to station troops and better still, establish military bases. With regards to friendship with United States, it is of priority for India, especially for defence supply, economics and space cooperation. However, the government must not go by the slogan "America India bhai bhai", especially as it wouldn't be comfortable with a rising power to eclipse American hegemony. Like S. Suspicion and distrust about the US is deeply embedded in the Indian security apparatus and bureaucracy, the majority of which have their worldview influenced and shaped during the cold war. Recent events have also aggravated it. The hasty and chaotic US withdrawal from afghanistan didn't go down well in New Delhi . The pressure exerted on India by the loud and noisy heterogeneous state regarding the Ukraine war and the indifference, inaction or tacit backing of the US authorities to khalistani separatists riled New Delhi. The US still has substantial ties with Islamabad and is complicit in the ouster of the only friendly regime that India had in a troubled neighborhood.
