Buying pulses from Canada would have been totally unnecessary if the 1d10ts in the previous Indian governments had used their heads. Earlier, Indian farmers would cultivate pulses between foodgrain crops, which not only ensured India's self sufficiency in pulses, but also the fertility of the land due to nitrogen fixation by the pulse yielding plants. The fools in India's agriculture ministry pushed Indian farmers to cultivate more foodgrains over pulses, thereby destroying not only India's yields but also its self-sufficiency in pulses. It is also widely believed that the previous anti-national government did this deliberately as many of Canada's farmers who grow pulses are Khalistani supporters and buying pulses from them would promote their cause.
