世界上最长的海底高速铁路隧道开始“海底之旅”

A colossal tunnel boring machine named Dinghai began excavating from the land section into the sea section at 42 meters below sea level near Zhoushan City in east China on Tuesday, marking the begng of an "undersea journey" for the construction of world's longest undersea high-speed railway tunnel.

周二，一台名为“定海号”的巨型隧道掘进机，开始在中国东部舟山市附近从海平面以下42米的陆域向海域掘进，标志着世界上最长的海底高铁隧道开始“穿海之旅”。

With a maxmum depth of 78 meters, the intang Undersea Tunnel will have a total length of 16.18 kilometers, spanning from Ningbo City's Beilun District to intang Town in Zhoushan City in east China. It is an important part of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway.

金塘海底隧道最大深度为78米，全长16.18公里，从宁波市北仑区延伸到中国东部舟山市金塘镇。它是宁波至舟山铁路的重要组成部分。

10月22日10时许，在甬舟铁路金塘海底隧道舟山侧海平面下42米深处，“定海号”盾构机成功穿越海堤，由陆域段进入海域段掘进施工，标志着世界最长海底高铁隧道开启“穿海之旅”。

金塘海底隧道是甬舟铁路控制性工程，位于东海海域宁波与舟山之间的金塘水道下方，西起宁波市北仑区，东至舟山市金塘镇，全长16.18公里，是世界最长海底高铁隧道，其中采用盾构法施工区段长11.21公里。

​@vanhocwong6689 Absolutely accidents. But it's the frequency of these "accidents" or collapse/crumbling of especially new and vanity projects in China that is alarming. Corruption plays a big part in this, using cheaper material and cutting corners being the standard.

UK has a train crashed. One dead. Trains are dangerous. USA is lucky that they do not have super high speed trains like China and other SEA countries, their citizens can travel at a slow and relaxed pace and enjoy the scenary.

Unfortunately, accidents does happen in most major infrastructure projects. It does not matter if the project was built in the US, UK, EU, etc etc etc. For examples, 96 workers died from the Hoover Dam construction, 121 died from Snowy Mountain Construction and 10 workers died building the Euro Tunnel.
