Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD reported third-quarter revenue that topped that of behemoth rival Tesla for the first time. On Wednesday, BYD reported revenue for the three months ended Sept. 30 of 201.12 billion yuan ($28.24 billion), up 24% from a year ago.

And, BYD should stay focused on bringing fundamental technical advances to its EVs at the earliest possible time. The Blade 2 battery, certainly, is a very encouraging development.

I don't see the stock price of Tesla as a consequence of what the company is, but much more following the mythology that surrounds muskism and everything that concerns to it. Musk, like a few,  built this image of the visionary genius and helped establishing the foundations of some kind of church around his image. Not to mention the US state always and forever backing him. I'm not saying the man does not have his several merits, because he does, but this is highly amplified by a lot of intangibles that could vanish in the air

PHEVs are not all the same. BYD use them mainly as a REx. That makes them highly efficient PHEVs. The only issue will be getting PHEVs to hit 200km range and accept fast charging over 150kW.

The logic behind hybrids escapes me apart from drivers who habitually drive long distances.

I have to conclude that BYD is losing money on pure BEVs since more than half of their sales are PHEVs where the profits really are for most car companies, and that means that Tesla is the only large car company making money on BEVs since BEVs are the bulk of their revenues.
