Just came from China for 10days visit, China's developments is another level up. Hsr and metros are the top notch. Clean coach and station, fast, on time, safe convenient, excellent connectivity and affordable ride. The air and noise pollution of the cities r well controlled as most of the vehicles are ev. No homeless, no drug addicts. All in digital payment, whole trip didn't use any currency note for payment.

Yes, when i first visited China some 20 years ago, it was indeed dirty and poor. Pickpockets were very common. I myself nearly fell victim. Fast forward to today, China has changed a lot and to the better. I think India today is still like what China was 20 to 30 years ago. And I dun think India can ever catch up. Unless the Indian people talk less & work more.

Nah. I don't agree that the chinese only started to care about cleanliness and the enviroment after criticism from Westerners.
chinese started to care about the enviroment only after they could afford to care about it.
It's all about priorities. Poor countries have to prioritize essential things like food, power, fuel, medicine, etc. Richer countries can afford to spend money on things like environmental protection and educating the public to support such a program.
It's the same with people. As Chinese people gradually became wealthier they also grew to care more about things like the cleanliness of their enviroment and the protection of the wildlife and natural enviroment. Poor people only care about their next meal/how to send their children to school/how to pay for their old parent's medical bills/etc
