NAGPUR: In a vitriolic attack on PM Narendra Modi, Cong president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday termed him as ‘jhoothon ka sardar' (chieftain of lies) for "unfulfilled promises" and inconsistent messages within BJP.

国大党主席马利卡尔琼·哈吉周六对总理纳伦德拉·莫迪发起刻薄攻击，称他为“谎言酋长”，因为他的”承诺没有兑现”，人民党内部的信息也不一致。

Addressing media here on Saturday, Kharge highlighted the gap between Modi's pledges including — bringing back black money stashed abroad, creating two crore jobs annually, reducing inflation, and doubling minimum support prices for farmers — and ground reality.

Flanked by Congress leaders, including Vijay Wadettiwar, Abhijit Wanjarri, and Atul Londhe, Kharge accused BJP for "double-speak" on the issue of unity. While PM Modi professes "Ek hai toh safe hai" (we are safe if united), UP CM Yogi Adityanath's makes an oft-repeated rhetoric "batenge toh katenge" (divided we perish), Kharge said to prove his point. "The BJP should first decide which slogan to follow – Yogi's or Modi's," Kharge said.

Kharge criticised Yogi's slogan as ‘divisive', arguing that it was inappropriate in Maharashtra, the land of Saints like Tukadoji and Gadge Maharaj who preached unity and inclusivity. "Yogi's attire reflects spirituality. He should quit politics and focus on spiritual pursuits instead of wearing the saffron robe and making divisive statements. Perhaps, he would be better suited to a life of spiritual service in Varanasi," Kharge said.
