搭乘中国东方航空的C919客机

Episode 2 of my China Aviation experience. Today I finally get to fly a true Made in China aircraft, the COMAC C919 aircraft (中國商飛 C919 / 中国商飞 C919)! It was on my bucket list since it's roll-out a couple of years ago. China Eastern Airlines (中国东方航空公司) is the first operator of this aircraft type, and in the meanwhile, Air China has also become a C919 operator, if I'm not mistaken. I got a fairly good deal in Business Class, for around 250 USD. How does it feel to fly something else than an Airbus, Boeing or Embraer?

我搭乘中国航班的经历。今天,我终于坐上了一架真正的中国国产飞机,中国商飞C919!

自从几年前推出以来,我就一直想体验下。中国东方航空公司是运营该机型的第一家航空公司。如果我没记错的话,中国国际航空公司也有了C919飞机。

我坐的是商务舱,票价很划得来,大约250美元。第一次乘坐空客、波音或巴西航空工业公司以外的飞机,感觉如何?

Wow. this is fantastic review. I am quite curious about this Chinese made aircraft. How quiet is it? Does it give you a confident feeling flying on it?

Thank you. Sound-wise it was very comparable with the A320. And I wouldn‘t hesitate flying with the C919 again.

Feeling confident on an prototype aircraft without any certification outside from its homecoutry while rejecting one of the most popular and safest aircraft types ever built sounds a bit like stupid to me, but it's okay, someone else will take your seat then ;)

@johfed No outside certification is due to trade war/protectionism........yours right, Brunei kingdom has ordered 7 C919 .

@xkr510 Sometimes you can get stuck or faced with a big price difference. Given the choice I would prefer not to fly in a 737 MAX but sometimes there may be no choice. Suppose you need to save money and the only fare you can afford is on Ryanair. All their planes are relatively new 737s. They also have a good safety record as an airline. Would you fly with them? I probably would. Here in Australia Virgin Australia flies all 737s. I can imagine sometimes having no choice but to fly with them.

This plane is a big deal despite what westerners. The billions that Chinese airlines previously spent with Boeing and Airbus is going to stay in China. And it's a competitive 3rd option for other countries in the global south

Lol, I was taking a 737 max from LA to Montreal and praying the whole trip. I survived!! On my flight to NY, it was originally 737 max but was changed to 320 in the last week before departure.

@johfed Because the C919 is not manufactured by Indian engineers and Indian workers, it is evident that Chinese engineers and Chinese workers have significantly increased the safety rate.

China Eastern not hiding its national pride at flying the first C919. Very good flight. I hope they will soon get certified to fly internationally. Perhaps we might see them in Australia.

Both US and EU are unlikely to certify it due to political reasons, but there are countries starting to recognise CAAC certification, recently an airline in Brunei, one of wealthiest Asian countries, ordered both C919 and ARJ-21, 15 each.

@joseph_wei There are also reasons why they might certify it. Both the US and the EU still want to sell aircraft to Chinese airlines.

@joseph_wei "Both US and EU are unlikely to certify it due to political reasons" The FAA already has a signed agreement with CAAC for cross-certification of airliners. The PRC has stated that they do not wish to invoke the agreement at this time.

@marcmcreynolds2827 It may be that they feel it needs to prove its reliability before being brought to the west. Can you imagine the negative press that any issues would get in the west simply owing to the fact that it's a Chinese aircraft?

I am from China. What I want to say is that if C919 can reach the level of Airbus A320, it is a preliminary success! The greater test comes from after-sales maintenance! No matter how good the aircraft is, if it is neglected in maintenance, it will fail! I hope that the parts from Europe will not be cut off like ASML! I also hope that the world will be peaceful and there will be no war!

A lot of these European and American suppliers do have factories and partners in China - and the same folks supplying Airbus and Boeing for decades.

In parallel, there are also Chinese ones in the supply chain where they also do business with Airbus and Boeing.

All talks about “wars” and “de-couplings” are mere noises and empty rhetorics.

Let trade do the talking.

Not many knew that C919 flied to Vietnam for demonstration and currencly negotiates with Vietjet (Vietnam) to have commercial C919 flight between China/Vietnam.

很多人不知道C919飞往越南进行飞行表演,并正在与(越南)越捷航空谈判在中国和越南之间开通C919商业航班。
