NEW DELHI: Congress MP on Sunday raised concerns over the deteriorating quality of food being served in Vande Bharat express after passengers complained of insects and cockroaches being found in meals. Calling out on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who inaugurated the Vande Bharat express, Manickam Tagore questioned IRCTC's fine of "mere Rs 50,000" and demanded 'strict action & systemic reforms."

"Dear @narendramodi ji, imagine being served cockroaches & insects in your meals repeatedly 8 months. Will a mere Rs 50,000 fine suffice to ensure accountability? Strict action & systemic reforms are overdue for passenger safety & dignity," Manickam Tagore B said in a post on X.
“亲爱的莫迪总理，想象一下8个月来饭菜里不断发现蟑螂和昆虫。仅仅5万卢比的罚款就够问责吗？为了乘客的安全和尊严，严厉的行动和系统的改革早该进行了。”
Post complaints from passengers, the Tirunelveli - Chennai Egmore Vande Bharat Express's food sample was found to be contaminated, the IRCTC response said.
IRCTC回应称，在乘客投诉后，蒂鲁内尔韦里-金奈埃格莫尔-凡德-巴拉特特快列车的食物样本被发现受到污染。
"For this negligence, a penalty of Rs. 50,000 has been imposed on the contractor Ms Brindavan Food products, and further action is being pursued. The Railway is conducting a detailed investigation into the incident, considering all possibilities regarding the source of the contamination," it said.
IRCTC称：“由于这一疏忽，承包商Brindavan食品公司被处以5万卢比的罚款，目前正在采取进一步行动。铁道部正在对事故进行详细调查，考虑所有可能的污染源。”
In October, director-actor R Parthiban raised concerns about the poor food quality on the Vande Bharat train. In response, the Salem divisional railway manager issued an apology and promised action against the caterer responsible.

Compared to food served in train some 2 decades ago, there is a remarkable improvement. Yes, there are quality issues that need to ve addressed. But calling Modi for every issue is unwarranted. In fact, way back in the 80s and 90s, getting decent food in railways was a big issue and passengers were the mercy of poor quality vendors supplying food with stones and mud. Those days, there were no mechanisms to even complain. Did these Congress maharaja ever travel in train when they were in power?

I repeat, unless you privatize Railways, u r doomed. Professionalism has to takeover Bureaucracy. Just see Elon has intruded the politics- it is Professionalism, only. Let Tata caters to Railways to start with at least in Premium Trains, if you fool want to save Indias Image as a runner up to 3rd slot in GDP terms.
