'Struck with blunt weapons, shot in head': Autopsy reveals brutal killings of 3-year-old boy, family members in Manipur's Jiribam district

GUWAHATI: A three-year-old boy, who was among the six of a family allegedly kidnapped and killed by Kuki militants in Manipur's Jiribam district early this month was likely struck by blunt weapons in the chest and hand, the autopsy report from Silchar Medical College and Hospital has revealed. The infant was also shot in his head and face, it stated.

Post-mortem reports of his mother and grandmother have also been received with all three bodies found with bullet and lacerated injuries, the report mentioned.

But the cause of death is pending until the receipt of the chemical analysis report of viscera samples.

The boy's mother was shot in her chest and back, whereas the autopsy report of his grandmother shows multiple bullet wounds in her chest, skull, abdomen and arm. According to the report, the child's mother was probably killed at least two days before him and his grandmother. The autopsy reports of the boy's eight-year-old sister, his eight-month-old brother, and his aunt are still awaited.

Their bodies were recovered from the Barak river, which flows from Jiribam district in Manipur to Cachar in south Assam. Upon arrival at the SMCH mortuary on Nov 17, the infant was found wearing a T-shirt and vest, but his body was in a state of decomposition. His right eye was missing, revealed the post-mortem report.
