China Southern Airlines, the largest airline in Asia by fleet size, has announced its decision to sell all 10 of its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners along with two spare GEnx-1B70/P2 engines. The news, which surfaced in late-November, comes from an official intent solicitation notice posted on its website, with the sale to be conducted through open bidding. The aircraft are expected to be delivered to the buyer between 2025 and 2026, pending board approval.

Makes sense for Air India to pick them up. Out of the 27 787-8s that Air India has, 5 dreamliners are parked for various reasons. These 10 aircraft with their better maintained interiors could be a boon for the expading airline, as the widebodies from their 470 aircraft order will not start delivery before 2026 and is also difficult to predict owing to supply chain issues and quality issues boeing is experiencing. Recently, the airline also saw another setback as their widebody refurbishment program has been delayed by another year.
