Large scale chip fabrication is a restricted technology. Even the single prototype chip(shakti) made by chennai IIT is based on 180nm, which is no where close to the 12nm chips produced by Intel and AMD.

In the comment, it's clear many ppl are getting offended by saying India doesn't manufacture but that is true. I have done MTech in Integrated circuit technology and project in Fabrication a process is called reactive ion etching but for me, there is no scope in india..if I want to do something then I have to go abroad even for a job

@Manthan Pole Majority of companies like Apple were assembling their products in China. The high tech jobs like semiconductors and software are still done in the United States. I don't think assembling jobs are high tech. Pretty sure that due to sheer population size , India has a mix of both skilled and unskilled workers needed for both.
