Why do so many foreigners go to China and think China is good?

They don’t. China tries to promote this fake image to the world. Ever watched the show Avatar? China is like the city of Ba Sing Se. Where there is war outside, but the city thinks everything is fine.
Whatever image you have about China(For both Chinese and foreigners)。 It a hyper-nationalist society who thinks the west is racist towards them. Now anyone who has been to the west, know how many chinatowns exst. How Chinese people despite their unwillingness to integrate in other countries, can live their own way of life. How there are racist people in every society.

I think this question contains a couple of questionable assumptions.
The first questionable assumption is that many foreigners go to China. The reality is that the number of foreigners living in China is infinitesimal. It is estimated that less than a million foreigners live in China at any given time. For a country of 1.4 billion, and the world’s second largest economy, this is nothing.
If we are talking about tourists or short-term visitors then there are more, but still not many. China’s inward tourism is actually very low for a country of its size and importance. Much smaller countries like Japan or Turkey receive as many or more foreign tourists in the course of a year.
The second questionable assumption is that many foreigners who go to China “think China is good”. There is a wide range of views among foreigners who have visited and lived in China. It is a complicated place to understand, and you need to live there for a few years to really develop some insight. Even then, people’s perceptions can vary widely. Some people who only visit briefly are blown away by the modernity and the top-notch infrastructure in the major cities. Others are put off by things like people spitting on the ground, and the polluted air.
When it comes to foreigners who have lived in China long-term, I would say that on average (and only on average) they have views of the country that are less positive than those of people who have never been there. China has lots of problems, and the longer you live there the more you come to notice them.

first visited China late last year for 1 month on my own . I was not sure what to expect, you hear lots of positive and negative views about the “modern” China.
I first visited Changsha for 5 days and I was blown away by the organisation for almost every event.
The security was amazing, the people were so friendly and the city itself was nothing like I expected, it was amazing.
There were “old” and “new” buildings side by side in some areas, the contrast was just so unexpected.
I stayed in a hotel that does not usually cater to “foreigners”, (I’m British), but the staff were fantastic. I decided on a trip to an island on the river but had to use the Metro, the hotel staff pointed me in the direction of the nearest station. I was a little apprehensive at first, but all the signs and notice were written in Chinese and in English, so are the ticket machines.
Apart from lots of stares from the local people which made me smile, most had never seen a foreigner in real life before, I felt welcomed by everyone I spoke to, in shops, food outlets, street food sellers etc, albeit I used my translator on my phone to communicate but a lot could speak English. The food in China is like nothing else, I tried almost all the food that I would probably never eat if it was in the west. There were only 3 things that I didn’t enjoy due to texture and/or taste, but everything else was so tasty and beautifully prepared and served up. The cost of eating in China is a fraction of the cost in the UK.
My next stop was Guangzhou, a mere 800 or so kilometres away, well, I had heard about the “fast trains” and decided to give it a go. The hotel staff directed me to correct train station via the metro and I got there with ease.
The next hurdle was to procure my train ticket, I was the only “foreigner” in the queue and was a little bit concerned that they would not understand my requirements, I wasn’t even sure if they allowed foreigners on these trains, I don’t know why I thought that.

I got to the window and the lady could not speak English, but she actually swapped desks with a colleague who could, I couldn’t believe that they would go to this trouble but they are so committed to providing an excellent customer service, particularly to non Chinese.
I arrived in Guangzhou and was completely and utterly stunned by this city. The tax trip from the train station to my hotel was so cheap, around 120rmb (around £15), this was for a 40km tax ride, in the UK this would be around £40–50.
Again I checked into an Apartment in the Liede district and the staff were amazing, I got to my room and it smelled of cigarettes so I asked the porter if he could sort out a different room for me, he sorted this in around 10 minutes, fantastic service.
I dumped my stuff, had a shower and went for a walk around the area, the whole place just attacks your senses, it is an amazing city.
Over the next 3 weeks or so I visited a lot of amazing and beautiful areas, buildings, shop streets, old areas for food etc.
I have been back 3 more times since my first visit and find something new every time.
The people are so friendly, respectful and helpful. The sights are amazing, a short walk from almost any hotel or apartment brings you to something different almost every day.
I could go on and on about my visits to this amazing country, it has had an affect on me which I have never experienced whilst visiting other countries and I’ve visited a lot of different places.
My eventual answer to the original post is this, when this terrible virus swee through China is eventually brought under control, go visit, but with one stipulation, have an open mind and you will fall in love with this country.

I’ve visited China over 5 times, and it feels like the 80s never stopped! It’s exciting fun & fresh. Last time I was there last year I even noticed the girls are wearing 80s style poofy curly hair, so cute. Beer is cheap!
Also, if you are a polite western guy craving female attention, but not getting it in North America, I can tell you China is really full of amazingly cute and kind women. Get thee to China. I wished this to be true in my early 20s, and now am happily married for 10+ years with a Chinese girl and love my life & family.
The kind of scary evil vibe the western media throws out there a lot is not accurate to the reality of living there.
Last but not least, people really know how to work hard and play hard. Go to most restaurants and you feel like you are at a good party.
Obviously just my own personal experience, with over a Billion people there is gonna be lots of variety!

Because china is truly good, because we develop very fast. because we seldom have biased on any country, because we welcome people from anywhere. I can understand why you ask this question, because a lot of foreigner news said that china develop not well and Chinese are terrible, usually have bad manner. Today I want to tell you, they are wrong, before I were in new Zealand for five years, it is no doubt that NZ is a beautiful country and people are nice, however, to be honest, compared with china in technology development and traffic development, china is better, and in china , you can buy anything you want, and we have a lot of delicious traditional food. so it is a good choice to live in china, Thx!
