It means nothing significant really. Russia is a second-rate great power that has a shrinking economy that smaller than France's, and a declining population. Russia struggles to even assert its influence in the Central Asian countries. It punches above its weight, but it is no longer a superpower. When the economies of the US and China are like $20 trillion and $13 trillion more than that of Russia's, its not even a comparison. The geopolitical arena has changed, where China is magnitudes stronger than Russia. Push comes to shove, Russia will prioritize its relationship with China over India every time.

Since China share territorial disputes with India, it is only natural that India aligns itself with the United States who is the only other superpower around.
