新疆一栋公寓发生火灾，10人死亡

BEIG: A fire in an apartment building in northwestern China's injiang region has killed 10 people and injured nine, authorities said Friday.

The fire broke out Thursday night in the regional capital of Urumqi, where temperatures have dropped to below freezing after dark. The blaze took around three hours to extinguish.

The injured were all expected to survive and the cause of the fire is under investigation, the local government said.

周五，新疆地区一栋住宅楼发生火灾，已造成10人死亡，9人受伤。

11月24日晚上，乌鲁木齐一栋住宅楼发生火灾，天黑后气温已降至冰点以下。大火花了大约三个小时才扑灭。

当地政府表示，预计伤者都能生还，起火原因正在调查中。

I was born in Urumqi. Unfortunately my mom is stuck in Urumqi right now. She travelled back from Beiing to injiang to take care of my aging grandma in the summer, and she has been stuck there ever since.

I'm American, I'm past 65 and I've had Covid 3 times in the last 18 months. No big deal. I get much sicker with the flu. Nobody where I live even thinks about Covid any longer. A few people wear masks in public but I went shop today and in busy stores I saw maybe a half dozen people total wearing a mask. I fully expect to come down with Covid again sometime this winter (shrug....). I'll spend a few days home on the couch and then be over it.
