For years, the People's Republic of China (PRC) has pursued a foreign policy of strict non-interference in the internal affairs of other states.

The PRC's non-interference policy is now being tested, however, in the region of West Asia.

Article 1 of the Genocide Convention requires states to take active measures to prevent genocide when there is a material risk that genocide is occurring, and there is now abundant evidence that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians living under occupation.

Moreover, China has deep economic interests in the region, particularly in Iran. Israel has repeatedly attacked Iran and has pressured the United States government to wage all-out war on Iran.

These and other factors are testing the limits of the PRC's policy of non-interference.

多年来，中国奉行严格不干涉别国内政的外交政策。

然而，中国的不干涉政策现在正在西亚地区经受考验。

《灭绝种族罪公约》第1条要求各国在发生灭绝种族的重大危险时采取积极措施防止种族灭绝罪行，现在有充分证据表明，以色列正在对生活在占领下的巴勒斯坦人实施种族灭绝。

Just to add. China is not entierly non-intercentionist. China is willing to intervene only under United Nation resolution. For instance, China sends the largest peace kee troops throughout the world under UN resolution. China also sets up a naval base in Djibouti to secure the waterway in the red sea also under UN resolution.

As a Chinese, I got to say this, the foreign policy of China in general have been often criticized by the Chinese people, as many of them take it as "weakly oppose to the US and its allies(lapDs)", because many of them do not understand geopolitics and international laws. So if anyone out there think China is bad, is evil, is a "paper tiger", think twice, call it a blessing that the government of this superpower can actually decide to do what is good for their people and the country, and responsible to the rest of the world, instead of ram up all the negatives and let a bunch of non-professionals to lead the way, and start conflicts everywhere, like another superpower has been doing for decades.

I absolutely believe even if China’ interfere ‘ in Middle East affairs , it would be through the permission of the ME leaders ( like dealing with separatist militant groups that concern their national security)and not through China initiation.First, China foreign policy is non interference in other countries affairs. If the Chinese conquer a new region , they will leave an outpost or build barriers /walls and let the locals run the place. Why? First , it is too far and expensive to govern a place that is thousands of miles away. So the Chinese knows expansion of territory to them is futile in the end and the cons may be more than the pros. The Americans doesn’t have such memory of history . They keep 800 military bases thinking that they could rule the world forever, but the expenditure spent on these bases is unsustainable in the long run.

Doesn't the Genocide Convention apply to each state party individually as far as the obligation to prevent and punish genocide? It seems like a cop out to suggest there's nothing to be done if the UN doesn't come together to do something. I'm not saying they should militarily intervene, but continuing to maintain normalized relations with Israel just seems indefensible to me at this point. How does this fit with any concept of anti-imperialism or anti-hegemony when the imperial and hegemonic powers in the world are trying to normalize genocide? I had put so much of my hope in BRICS and a multi-polar world but without meaningful international law that is capable of stop genocide, then what's the difference for the people of the world?

The focus should not be on China's "non-interference". Rather it should be on the active participation of the US, UK, Germany, France, Canada, EU in the genocide in Gaza, and in the invasion of Syria, and the debacle created by the west in 2014 in Ukraine which has led to the attacks against Donbass and then the war in Ukraine.
