Namo Bharat Delhi-Meerut RRTS: Imagine being able to travel between Delhi and Meerut in under 40 minutes at a speed of 160 kmph! Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Namo Bharat train service on the 13-kilometre stretch connecting Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar through Anand Vihar in Delhi. With this the travel time between Delhi and Meerut through the Regional Rapid Transit System or RRTS has come down to just 35 minutes!

Namo Bharat trains in Delhi: The newly added section has extended the operational length of RRTS to 55 kilometres of the total 82-kilometre Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut route. Passengers can now travel from New Ashok Nagar in Delhi to Meerut South station in 40 minutes. The journey between Meerut South and Anand Vihar takes 35 minutes on the RRTS, with trains running at 15-minute intervals.

How many passengers can this train move. Single track. About 50 people per car times 4 is about 200 people.,You have a train frequency of 1 per minute. 200 x 60 = 12,000 people.,Delhi has 15 million people. So if there is no plan to move millions of people, it's mostly a placebo.

Max sped is 160KMPH ? What are Tracks designed for ? Since the new trains (eg VB Sleepers) are able to easily clock 180 and probably soon there would be 200 plus coaches PROVIDED tracks can take that. had RRTS been desigend for higher speed ? If not, the next RRTS segments (which are already in pipeline) should be designed for AT LEAST 250KMPH (which too is SHSR) so that trains can run at 200 to 225.

They ARE, but while doing that, they should PLAN for future. A step ahead. Let us realise that (a) MAJOR capex is in the tracks and the rolling stock is only a fraction of it. (b) Tracks upgradation is not only almost as costly as doing it all over again, but also it becomes compelx in an Operating track, since one can't stop trains for few years for upgradation. So since tehse are meant for SHSR, teh tracks could be designed for the limit of it, even if our Coach-industries are still a step behind.

Mumbai is HSR these are SHSR... both are a generation away. If I recall, most major block in Mumbai HSR was land acquisition and that too in MH segment, which delayed the project. Plus let as also understand, it has a long under-water tunnel, that too adds to complexty.
