Indian Railways has come a long way. Although it was born to increase our own exploitation by the colonial powers, in independent India, this system became the backbone of the country. It played a very important role in the economic and social development of the country.

With 32,310 kms of tracks, 23 million people avail its services every day. These people come from everywhere, from small villages to metro cities. Some come to study, some for jobs, some for business and some just to travel. That is, it not only helps people but also spreads development in every corner of the country. It is called the ninth largest employer in the world. It provides livelihood to 1.2 lakh people and also contributes 1.5 percent to the country's GDP. Its contribution in the transportation of goods is even bigger. By November 2024-25, the railways carried 96.9 million tonnes of goods, which is 2.2 percent more than last year. These figures show that the Indian Railways not only helps people but also takes the country's trade forward.

For some time now, it seems that the life of Indian Railways, called the lifeline of the country, is in danger. The infrastructure of the railways has become old, due to which efficiency is decreasing. Overcrowding and mismanagement are creating more and more dangers every day. Stampedes held at Jalgaon and New Delhi railway stations exposes the poor condition of safety. Despite 97 broad gauge electrification, 95% accidents are happening due to driver errors, which shows the poor conditions of their employees. On top of this, the financial crunch of this sector makes any improvement impossible. Freight transport has also come down from 80 to 29, which is also weakening the competing edge of the railways.

In the budget of 2025-26, Rs 2.52 lakh crore has been allocated to Rail Wages, but experts say that it is not enough to improve its condition. Overall, Indian Railways today stands at a very delicate turn of its journey. If no immediate steps are taken in this direction, then this system can derail, due to which both the people dependent on it and the country's economy can get a big shock.

अधिकतर भारतीय गरीब और मिडिल क्लास के है वो ac कोच afford नहीं कर सकते। जनरल स्लीपर और 3rd ac कोच की संख्या बढ़ाना चाहिए और स्टाफ की जरूरत है जो इन सबको मैनेज कर सके अधिकांश लोग टिकट इसीलिए भी नहीं लेते कि उन्हें सफर करने में काफी मशक्कत करना पड़ता है।

大多数印度人都是穷人和中产阶级,他们坐不起空调车厢。应该增加普通卧铺和三等空调车厢的数量,还需要有工作人员来管理。很多人不买票也是因为乘车过程实在太遭罪了。

现在土地征收变得困难重重,不然就需要修建新的铁路轨道,来减轻现有轨道的压力,让新火车能跑起来。

修建公路的时候,大家都希望从自家那边过,这样土地就能增值。可轮到铁路从自家附近经过时,大家又不愿意了,因为觉得土地会贬值。人人都想要铁路,但没人愿意出让土地。而且印度人还总不买票就直接坐进普通车厢。我们需要扩大铁路网络,这样就业机会也会增加,商业和GDP也会提升。但还是那句话,没人愿意把土地给政府,可又想要铁路发展。那政府也只能去修公路了,还能怎么办呢。

I have not seen train vandalised to that extent in south India. Yes, education may NOT make your state economically strong but atleast it will instil civic sense. compulsory ENGLISH MEDIUM education till 12th grade must be enforced, and those who lack this shouldn’t be given voter ID. that’s the only soln.
