As US President Donald Trump ratcheted up economic pressure on China over the past week, Beiing sent back its own message: Its rise won’t be interrupted.

A major political meeting taking place in the capital was the ideal backdrop for Beiing to respond. The “two sessions” is where the government reveals its plans and sets the tone for the year ahead.

And the next: driving forward chinas bid to transform the country into a technological superpower, by ram up investment and enlisting the private sector.

Beiing is making these moves as it prepares for what could be a protracted economic showdown with the United States. Trump doubled additional tariffs on all Chinese imports to 20% on Tuesday and has threatened more to come – as well as tighter controls on American investment in China.

Back in February, a 25% tariff was imposed on trade partners Mexco and Canada. After talks with their respective leaders, who promised to help more with border security, he delayed their start for a month. China, however, has had 10% tariffs in place since then.

But the 30-day delay lapsed and the tariffs went into effect shortly after.

Stock markets slipped, Canada announced retaliatory tariffs and the red hat commander walked back some of the regulations throughout the week.

What the red hat brigade members don't understand is, tariffs are essentially taxes on imports, and economists generally agree that the cost gets passed onto consumers, resulting in a slower economy.

Remember when the red hat brigade were always saying Biden was flip flop, well, come on red hat members, when your red hat commander puts tariffs on, then takes them off, puts them on again, only to take them off, again, isn't that what you would call flip flop.

Then, you make excuses for your red hat commander and his flip flop. Did you make excuses for Biden. No, instead you called him derogatory names yet you are silent on your red hat commanders flip flop.

BEIG (AP) — China on Saturday announced retaliatory tariffs on some Canadian farm and food imports, after Canada imposed duties in October on Chinese-made electric vehicles and steel and aluminum products.

The new duties become effective March 20, according to a statement by the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council. Additional 100% tariffs will be imposed on Canadian rapeseed oil, oil cakes and peas, and additional 25% tariffs will apply to pork and aquatic products.

For me, an American, I think (and feel) that Trump's moves are the last gasp of an American President that has no vision on how to move this country forward. His moves are fearful and isolationist.
