NEW DELHI: From midget submarines, loiter munitions and nano drones to specialised weaponry, surveillance and communication equipment, India is progressively strengthening the capabilities of its special forces to undertake covert warfare deep behind enemy lines as well as counter-terrorism operations.

The upgrade in the gruelling combat training, which will include "augmented reality/virtual reality mission planners and simulators" in the near future, as well as "specialised equip" of the special forces in the Army, IAF and Navy is part of an ongoing process, sources told TOI.

新德里消息：从微型潜艇、巡飞弹和纳米无人机，到专业武器装备、监视及通信设备，印度正逐步增强本国特种部队的作战能力，以便深入敌后开展秘密作战行动以及执行反恐任务。

消息人士向《印度时报》透露，特种部队严苛的作战训练也在不断升级，在不久的将来，训练将纳入“增强现实/虚拟现实任务规划器和模拟器”，同时，陆军、印度空军和海军的特种部队的“专业化装备”也在持续更新，这些都是正在进行的工作的一部分。

There are now 10 Para-Special Forces and five Para (Airborne) battalions (each has around 620 soldiers) in the Army, 27 'flights' of around 1,600 Garud commandos in the IAF and over 1,400 marine commandos (Marcos) in the Navy.

A major shortcoming, however, is the lack of a full-fledged Special Operations Command, which would bring the disparate special forces together under a unified command and control structure for planning and executing strategic operations instead of merely tactical ones.

目前，印度陆军拥有10个特种部队营和5个伞兵营（每个营约有620名士兵），印度空军有27个“飞行小队”，约1600名“伽鲁达”突击队队员，海军则有超过1400名海军突击队队员（“马科斯”部队）。

India is still badly lacking in Fighter jet numbers and also using 3rd Gen fighters mostly and many even much older which are well past "Use By" date. India is miles behind China in fighter jet and barely in par with Pakistan despite Pakistan being a bankrupt state and India fifth biggest economy. India is heavily relying on AMCA and Tejas where AMCA is only on drawing boards and will enter service in late 2030s or early 2040s. By this time Pakistan will have 6th-gen fighters from China and set up a production line for Kaan 5.5 gen fighters from Turkey. In essence India will still be behind Pak and miles behind china if it does not act now. India should set up a 6th Gen fighter program with Russia and Israel both countries have superior fighter technology. India should also join GCAP program with Japan, Italy and Britain or FCAS program with France Germany and Spain. India has been invited multiple times but still not joined. This is the only way India can get 6th Gen fighters in less than 7 years and get ahead of both China and Pak for good. India can use Make in India to make these fighters in India for themselves and also for other partners in the program giving India an unprecedented advantage in fighter tech knowledge and skills plus many thousands of jobs created with local supply chains. Huge advantage for India. instead of wasting money on F35 which is a useless expensive fighter India should invest in the programs listed above to never be dependent on anyone in future.

Without a doubt, it has been demonstrated that advanced weapons are not a powerful tool for achieving a decisive advantage or advancing in hostilities; rather, having an advantage over moderately expensive weapons requires human or administrative bravery or plan. A strong industry for their economies, the developed world leads the globe in the production of advanced weapons. The crisis in Ukraine would not have persisted to this extent if sophisticated weapons had the power to bring about a permanent peace. It is no secret that successive Indian administrations have spent a significant portion of GDP on importing military hardware and supersonic fighter jets, but they have been unable to match the co unist China PLA's strength. In fact, the import of military hardware has been highlights in the media for its strange behavior, which can be linked to India Arm Forces' lack of transparency on base of the security front. Therefore, strengthening the Indian Armed Forces is unquestionably a cornerstone of administration; but, moving such expensive weapons to junkyards without designated applications is a waste of government funds, especially while the main infrastructure projects are languishing due to a lack of funding.
