China is Building New Class of Combat Ships

A new class of surface combatant is under construction at the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard in China.

I came across a number of satellite images from the Twitter account of Tom Shugart. They appear to suggest that a new class of Chinese surface combatants are under construction at the Hudong Zonghua shipyard in Shanghai. This particular image is dated the 1st of April.

This is the new dry dock on the Changxng Island, located right next to the Jiangnan shipyard. The Changxng Island has very much become the premier location for building virtually all of China's surface warships. It's the same dry dock where the Type 076 landing helicopter dock, the new amphibious warfare ship and the world's one and only amphibious warship with an electromagnetic aircraft catapult was constructed. The same dry dock also previously constructed the Type 054AG frigate. In fact, you see an unfinished hull of a Type 054 AG frigate under construction in the dry dock in the photo being labeled as such.

The more interesting hull in the photo is of course the one labeled unknown new type frigate or cutter (cutter as in coast guard cutter). According to measurements done by Tom, the new ship, the new unknown ship under construction, is about 105 m long. And this is clearly smaller or shorter than the 134 m of the Type 054A frigate, but larger than the Type 056A corvette at 90 m long and the previously seen experimental test platform that is 98 m long. So, judging by the length, that does not conform to the length of any other exsting PLA surface combatants or coast guard cutters. This appears to be a new naval vessel. Whether it is for the Chinese Navy or the Coast Guard is another matter.

Yes and no, the US has been testing railguns on naval ship, but they warp almost instantly upon use, meaning the US has them but cannot really use them.

Yea there planing to put it on the 3rd batch of type 055. So the first 16 won't have it but the 8 after will.
The 8 in the 3rd batch are also said to be large then the first 16 at about 15 000 tonnes.
Also it's claimed china will buold a dozen 25 000 tonnes cruisers which will also equip it based on the fact that they tested it on a large landing ship

I am wondering why the world's navies don't use aerostats/blimps as their primary ASW aviation asset. You could literally store half a dozen or more in the space that is currently taken up by rotary wing aircraft, they could stay in the air for days and their heat, acoustic and radar signatures would be fractions of that of a helicopter.
Apart from performing worse in adverse weather conditions can anyone tell me what would be wrong with replacing a single ASW helicopter with say half a dozen folded and stored aerostats and its associated compressed helium and or hydrogen tanks

Most probadly for the coast guard since Philipines is causing teouble now. A bigger ship can sail/stationlonger at sea and have more fire power ,troops etc on board

How many ships do you have Made In PRC?. We have LMS Batch Made in PRC and it is in working conditions compared to USN Billions Dollars Failed LCS.

Our ships are made in Britain, Germany, French and Italy now PRC and coming soon Turkiye.
