Chinese President has arrived in Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur for a three-day state visit. It is the second stop of his Southeast Asian tour, as he seeks to beef up regional cooperation in the wake of an escalating trade war with the US. Melissa Goh and Olivia Siong report.

As an ethnic chinese Aussie i might be somewhat biased with being my most respected leader in the world but the Malaysian leader Anwar Ibrahim is also up there in top 5. For such a "small" country, that is already quite impressive. Why i respect him? Because he had the courage to speak up for Palestine in western mainstream media as sitting PM when he could have easily stayed quiet like every other leader(non african heh). Even middle east muslim countries never dared to speak up and be as honest like that. Much respect.

The Federation of Malaysia and the People's Republic of China have been trading for many years, a continuation from the very first diplomatic contact between the Empire of the Malacca Sultanate and the Chinese Empire of Ming dating back from 500 years ago. Even the United States of America does not even exst yet. And the Kingdom of Temasek had crumbled years before that. One is encouraging cooperation with world leaders to achieve win-win outcome and the other just wants to win by pressuring other countries. they are in fact, drowned in debt actually. but i understand the optimism you need to have for the west at our current time. they could be richer, if they would stop arm trade. a lot of difference will be made, if he put his money to their country’s education and social structure.
