In March this year, the United States asked Chevron, the world's largest energy company, to end its oil business in Venezuela and ordered it to withdraw completely by April.

According to the original plan, this means that the US oil sanctions exemption on Venezuela will officially end. Trump then announced that a 25% tariff would be imposed on countries that purchase Venezuelan oil and gas.

Although the United States is targeting Venezuela on the surface, the main impact of this measure is actually China. As the largest buyer of Venezuelan oil, the 25% tariff will undoubtedly have a serious impact on China's energy industry.

However, what is surprising is that China not only did not stop importing oil from Venezuela, but the import volume surged. According to statistics, in March 2025, Venezuela's daily oil exports to China are expected to reach 400,000 barrels, which may set a record high since June 2023.

America needs to realise it can't keep telling other countries what to do. Trump can slap tariffs on as many countries as he likes but it won't affect countries trading with other countries, in fact he is making them more likely to trade with each other rather than the States.

Don"t think China cares about another 25% tariff. US already has 125% (or 150%?) on Chinese goods (except those exemptions). These tariffs mean trade between the two countries are unfeasible already. So, anything else doesn't matter.
The only way US can block energy supplies to China is the use of military force. Then China, not being a slouch, will respond. As most analysts suggest, in ten more years or so, China will outright dominate the US militarily. Then the question becomes, is it really worth it to the US, and the elites that control it, to try to maintain hegemony. I have only heard China expressing a willingness to work with the US, and not become hegemonic. So, it just appears to me it's all the US, and the elites that control it, that is causing problems.
Also, wonder why Venezuela doesn't seize the US assets (Chevron) like the US seized the Venezuelan gas stations in the US. The US is already doing all it can to destroy the country already.
