NEW DELHI: In the blink of an eye, the joyous anticipation of wedding bells turned into a mournful dirge for Ahmad's family. Just as they had begun the search for the perfect match for Danish and Neha, tragedy struck — on Friday night, the building they called home came crashing down.

新德里：一瞬间，艾哈迈德一家对婚礼钟声的喜悦期待变成了哀伤的挽歌。就在他们开始为达尼什和妮哈寻找理想伴侣的时候，悲剧降临了。周五晚上，他们称之为家的那栋楼房轰然倒塌。

Among the lives lost were Danish, the family's sole breadwinner, and his younger brother, Naved, leaving behind a family shattered in every sense of the word.

在逝去的生命中，有家里唯一的顶梁柱达尼什，还有他的弟弟纳维德，这让整个家庭在各个方面都支离破碎。

Shahid Ahmad and his wife, Rehana, along with their daughter, Neha Praveen, were injured in the incident. The couple was unaware of their son's death.

沙希德·艾哈迈德和他的妻子雷哈娜，以及他们的女儿妮哈·普拉文，在这次事故中都受了伤。这对夫妇还不知道他们儿子已经离世。

Ahmad had lost his sight in a chemical accident years ago and his elder son Danish had shouldered the responsibility of supporting the family. Now the son is gone, leaving the family in financial uncertainty.

艾哈迈德多年前在一次化学事故中失去了视力，他的大儿子达尼什扛起了养家的责任。如今儿子不在了，这个家庭陷入了经济不确定性之中。

As relatives gathered at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital on Saturday, ho against hope that their kin had been rescued, the Ahmad family faced the unbearable reality. Neha, who had miraculously survived, was left to pick up the pieces of her shattered life.

周六，当亲戚们聚集在古鲁·特格·巴哈杜尔医院，怀着一线希望盼着他们的亲人能获救时，艾哈迈德一家却要面对这难以承受的现实。奇迹般幸存下来的妮哈，只能独自去收拾她破碎生活的残局。

The weddings the Ahmads had been looking forward to were reduced to rubble. "The family had begun searching for a groom for Neha and a bride for Danish had even saved money, all of which was lost in the disaster. The family had lived in the building for over 10 years.," said Shehazad Ahmad, their relative.

Street No. 1 in Shakti Vihar, Mustafabad, was plunged into mourning, with cries and screams filling the night air. According to residents, the building that collapsed like a pack of cards was originally built around 20 years ago. Building owner Tehsin lived on the first floor, while the ground floor had shops. Eight of Tehsin's family, including himself, perished in the tragedy.

Mohammad Afzal, a neighbour, said that Tehsin and one of sons had a scrap business. "Earlier, the building had only two floors, but seven or eight years ago, they had added two more floors," he said.

Tehsin's wife and son were rescued. "One of his sons, Chand, ran out quickly when the building started falling and alerted other family members. But proved too late for some," said Afzal.

邻居穆罕默德·阿夫扎尔说，特赫辛和他的一个儿子经营着废品回收生意。“早些时候，这栋楼只有两层，但七八年前，他们又加盖了两层。”他说道。

特赫辛的妻子和儿子获救了。“楼房开始倒塌的时候，他的一个儿子钱德迅速跑了出来，并提醒了其他家人。但有些人还是跑得太晚了。”阿夫扎尔说。
